ALEP award barrister honorary membership

The Association of Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners (ALEP) has awarded an Honorary Membership to highly-regarded barrister Richard Alford in recognition of his contributions to the debate around leasehold enfranchisement and reform.

Richard Alford of Tanfield Chambers becomes the fourth barrister to be awarded Honorary Membership of the Association. Richard has an established and growing practice focusing on property and landlord and tenant work. He thrives on difficult cases and tricky points of law, and regularly appears in the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber), the County Court and the High Court.

ALEP introduced a new Honorary Membership category last year, which was created to give official recognition to individuals who have made a significant contribution to ALEP events, with the aim that they will continue to attend and play a part in the Association in the future.

Mark Chick, ALEP Director, said: “As an organisation founded to spread best practice and promote debate around leasehold issues, ALEP routinely invites expert speakers to our events, so our members can benefit from fresh insights, expertise and perspectives.

“We were privileged to welcome Richard to our last Conference as an expert speaker and we are delighted he has accepted this Honorary Membership of ALEP. I’m sure that he will have many positive contributions to make both to the Association, and to the wider debates around leasehold and enfranchisement reform.”
