Brady Solicitors recruits two property management lawyers

Specialist property law firm Brady Solicitors has added two new legal experts to its fast-growing Nottingham team, reflecting the firm’s growth across the full mix of legal work for the leasehold and property management sector.

Alexandra Byard has joined Brady Solicitors from Taylor & Emmett LLP and Cheryl Bates has joined Brady Solicitors from Shakespeare Martineau LLP.

The appointments are part of a planned programme of growth at Brady Solicitors and reflect a sustained increase in both the quantity and variety of instructions handled by the firm, as founder and MD Clare Brady explains:

...

“Our reputation within the sector means we are enjoying continued strong growth in legal property management work, from straightforward service charge advice through to helping leaseholders change managing agent, and complex property litigation work.

“With such growth comes the challenge of finding solicitors with experience in the property management sector so I’m delighted we’ve been able to recruit two such talented and ambitious lawyers to our team. Cheryl and Alex bring not only specialist legal expertise but the proactive, commercial and client-focused approach to their work that is valued by our clients.”

Cheryl Bates joins Brady Solicitors’ service charge team and brings substantial experience in a wide range of property and debt recovery work. Most recently, she was a Partner at Shakespeare Martineau and head of the firm’s repossession sales and recoveries team, recovering property for lenders, LPA receivers and private residential landlords and managing agents.

Cheryl said:

“I am fascinated by how the relationship between client and lawyer has changed since I qualified as a solicitor in 1997. The winners of the future will be those who best respond to the changing needs of clients and are able to develop a deeper understanding of their clients’ business needs. It is this approach to establishing a true working partnership with clients that attracted me to Brady Solicitors and I am relishing the opportunity to help the future of legal work in the property management sector.”

Alexandra Byard joins Brady Solicitors’ litigation team and will qualify as a solicitor on 1 April. She graduated from Coventry University with a First Class degree and was President of Coventry Legal Advice Service from 2011-2013.

Commenting on her appointment Alexandra said:

“I am thrilled to have joined Bradys and to be able to develop my legal career in property management and leasehold work. It’s a niche area of law that I love and so I jumped at the chance to join the award-winning Brady Solicitors team.”

Brady Solicitors was established in 2008 and celebrates its tenth anniversary in April. The firm is recognised for leading the debate on property management matters, and the findings from its 2017 National Leasehold Survey are quoted widely in the government’s leasehold reform proposals.

Clare added:

“The leasehold sector is under increasing scrutiny with the government’s Leasehold Reform proposals and it’s more essential than ever that leaseholders, landlords and the companies that manage their buildings take specialist legal advice.”

The firm recently moved into new premises on Castle Gate to provide high quality office space for its growing team.
