Homebuilder donates £1,000 to Derby & Burton hospitals Covid-19 appeal

In support of an emergency appeal to help NHS staff fighting Covid-19 on the frontline, Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands has donated £1,000 to the Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity.

The contribution is part of the leading developer’s Community Fund scheme and will help the charity continue its essential hospital and patient support.

Tim Diggle, Director at Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity, said: “We are so grateful that Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands have come to the hospitals aid and been able to support our charity. Such kindness will go a great way in helping our staff and patients and it means a great deal to us.”

Donations to the charity’s Covid-19 Support Appeal will help bring support to every ward, clinic, minor injuries unit and accident and emergency centre under its care.

Contributions will also go towards thermometers and new pillows for patients, tea and biscuits for the NHS employees when they manage to get a break, as well as support for staff members who cannot get home and are worried about their own families and children whilst treating others.

In connection with University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Trust, the charity helps to bring vital care to patients at Royal Derby Hospital, Samuel Johnson Community Hospital, Sir Robert Peel Community Hospital, Queen’s Hospital Burton and London Road Community Hospital.

Mark Cotes, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “Showing support and appreciation to those associated with the NHS is essential at a time like this, and it’s a privilege to be able to contribute to Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity’s appeal through our Community Fund scheme.

“We’d like to thank all key workers for their admirable work in providing first-class care for patients across the East Midlands.”

Through Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund scheme, the housebuilder donates up to £1,000 a month to charities and organisations in the local area.

Through donations and fundraising, Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity contributes towards patient welfare, additional equipment, research and staff training, all of which link closely with the strategic aims of both the Trust, and NHS healthcare in the East Midlands.
