Irwin Mitchell Advises Countryside Partnerships On Site Acquisition For 300-Home Development

The property team at law firm Irwin Mitchell has advised Countryside Partnerships on its acquisition of a site in Grimsby which is to be developed into nearly 300 homes.

Under the plans, 61 affordable homes will be managed by Gainsborough-based housing charity Acis Group and 58 will be for private rent via Start Living, the single-family build-to-rent joint venture between Gatehouse Bank and TPG Real Estate Partners.

The remaining 180 homes will be for open market sale with Linden Homes, which is part of Vistry Group. The site will form the fourth phase of Scartho Top, a major redevelopment area in south Grimsby that will eventually provide more than 2,000 properties.

It has a Gross Development Value of £61m and is the largest being built by the Yorkshire region of Countryside Partnerships.

Michelle Beaumont, partner at Irwin Mitchell, led the team advising Countryside Partnerships. She said: “We are delighted to have worked with Countryside Partnerships and proud to help complete this important acquisition for the latest site at Scartho Top. The deal secures 299 new homes for the local area, including affordable housing, and will no doubt add to the great community that already exists there.”

Andrew Poyner, managing director of Countryside Partnerships Yorkshire, said: "Over the last 20 years Scartho Top has become a major new residential neighbourhood and we're delighted to be building the next 299 new homes here. Our proposals include a broad mix of tenures, which creates greater opportunities for local people to find the home that's right for them.

"We're also pleased to be working again in partnership with Acis and Start Living, two quality partners who will help to deliver the best outcome for the site."
