Principle promotes top manager after qualification as Chartered Surveyor

One of Principle Estate Management’s top property managers has been promoted to associate director after qualifying to become the firm’s sixth Chartered Surveyor.

The achievement by Danielle Lannon comes after passing her Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Mrs Lannon’s experience of more than ten years, plus the completion of a RICS-accredited degree, enabled her to undertake the professional route to complete the APC.

This involved two years of providing evidence of competence in several property related areas, including mandatory sections showing her personal, interpersonal, professional practice and business skills, the submission of written projects and a final interview.

Principle director Joe Jobson, who was Mrs Lannon’s supervisor during her APC studies, said: “Dani has worked really hard since we first started working together in 2011.

“To undertake a part-time degree via remote-learning whilst starting a family and working is no mean feat, and to then go on and complete her APC and become a Chartered Surveyor is really special.

“As a business we have invested where appropriate in apprentices, and for them to be able to learn from the likes of Danielle in terms of work ethic and professional knowledge is invaluable to them.”

Mrs Lannon had previously studied for a degree in Real Estate Management from the University College of Estate Management, which she completed after joining Principle in 2019.

She manages commercial investment properties and residential apartment developments at Principle, specialising in looking after residential management company clients.

Mrs Lannon said: “It was demanding work to get to this point and I am pleased to have done it and passed first time.

“I am a very goals-orientated person who likes working to deadlines, and this has helped me in obtaining these qualifications.

“I have enjoyed learning about some wider areas of property during the degree and to gather sufficient experience to sit the APC.

“It’s a great feeling to finally be a Chartered Surveyor and to have the MRICS letters after my name.”

As well as her day-to-day work, Mrs Lannon has also been involved in various special projects at Principle.

This had included sitting on a working group to develop the firm’s vision and values, and then presenting that to the wider company.

She has also revised outbound communications after sitting on an internal enquiry management group, and has worked with the business development team dealing with new management opportunities for residential management company clients.

Brett Williams, Principle’s managing director and Mrs Lannon’s councillor during her APC studies, said: “We like to help our people with relevant property qualifications.

“It really is rewarding to Danielle’s hard work and dedication pay off to obtain this highest level of property qualification and to flourish in her career.

“Danielle is now the sixth Chartered Surveyor at Principle and is well deserving of her promotion to associate director where I know she will continue to flourish.”

Mrs Lannon added: “Everyone at Principle has been incredibly supportive of my studies and I would like to particularly thank Joe for his personal support as my supervisor during the APC.

“I’m now looking forward to the next stage in my career as I continue to develop my role within Principle.”

Principle looks after approaching 8,000 units in around 300 developments across the UK, as well as rented commercial and residential properties.
