Trump apartments to be renamed after campaign

Donald Trump has become the United States’ first apartment block developer to be elected President – but not everyone is so keen to be associated with the name!   Residents at Manhattan’s luxurious apartment complex Trump Place have successfully campaigned to have the name of the complex changed. The tenants at the Riverside Boulevard building in New York’s Upper West Side petitioned landlord Equity Residential urging it to “Dump the Trump”.   An online petition explained residents were “embarrassed to be living in buildings with the name ‘Trump Place’ emblazoned in front” because of its link with the newly inaugurated President. Equity Residential said in an email: “We are assuming a more neutral building identity that will appeal to all current and future residents.”   Developers in the US are now waiting to see if Trump is planning a boost to the industry. Although George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were land surveyors before entering office, Trump is the first to have cut his teeth on developing property.
