In July I will set out to walk 600km. Why? Well over the past 6 months Adiuvo have celebrated hitting 600,000 properties under out of hours management and their 600,000 emergency call out.
In normal circumstances we may have celebrated with a party but with that not being possible at the time we thought about alternatives.
Our first call out over 12 years ago was via D&G Block Management a London based company who were my ex-employers and are still to this day a client. That first emergency was a not very original leak between two flats. Then on the road to 600,000 we dealt with a burst appendix, a difficult snake, many more leaks, too many naked people and a horse in the common parts amongst many more with the 600,000 emergency being a very mundane lift out of service. That call-out was for Homestead, based in the North West. Someone in the team figured out that the journey between these 2 companies could, via a slightly roundabout way, be 600Km and so the idea for 600 for 600 was born. Eventually that has somehow turned into a marathon trek for me.
The event will take me and anyone foolish enough to join in on a 15 day journey from Vauxhall Bridge in Central London, to the seaside town of Lytham St-Annes in Lancashire. The plan is to complete approximately 50km three days in a row followed by a rest day and then repeat that three further times on the route detailed below;
July 4th London to Maidenhead
July 5th Maidenhead to Oxford
July 6th Oxford to Cirencester
July 7th Rest Day
July 8th Cirencester to Cheltenham
July 9th Cheltenham to Malvern
July 10th Malvern to Kidderminster
July 11th Rest Day
July 12th Kidderminster to Ludlow
July 13th Ludlow to Shrewsbury
July 14th Shrewsbury to Wrexham
July 15th Rest Day
July 16th Wrexham to Heswall
July 17th Heswall to Southport
July 18th Southport to Lytham St Anne's
As mentioned should anyone want to join in and walk any part of the route and any distance be glad to have the company and/or distraction although depending on how far you want to walk you may need to start training (currently I am completing around 150km a week).
