Recent government announcements on housing, infrastructure and planning, with the explicit recognition of the importance of the Build to Rent sector make the Association for Rental Living (ARL) Annual Build to Rent Conference 2024 more important than ever.
The ARL has now released details of the key speakers and themes of the 2024 Conference. Regarded as the must-attend event for the Build to Rent (BTR) and wider rental living sector each year, this year’s conference will take place in London on 7th November and feature three keynote speeches and seven breakout sessions. There will also be a range of opportunities for delegates to engage with leaders from in and out of sector and learn from the best in the BTR and beyond.
Bill Hughes, Head of Real Assets at Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), will deliver the first keynote speech, on evolution in rental living, including what good looks like and what the future holds under the new Labour government.
The second keynote will be delivered by Yolande Barnes, Professor of Real Estate at UCL, who will examine investment criteria for 21st century housing: what we supply, how we supply it and how to counter obsolescence. In the third, Rightmove’s Tim Bannister and HomeViews’ Hannah Marsh will take delegates from research to resident, highlighting key considerations for guiding the BTR consumer journey.
Delegates will have the opportunity to connect with key stakeholders, investors and peers at the ARL conference, to expand their professional networks and discover innovative trends and best practices.
Breakout sessions at the conference, which takes place at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London, will cover seven important themes:
- What do you need to sell your building? What does a good data room look like?
- Housing delivery at a price, with no silver bullets, what can be done to improve housing delivery?
- Learning from hospitality and other sectors - what we can learn regards operations and service in BTR?
- Design challenge.
- The evolution of operational management.
- Professionalising the BTR sector.
- Closing the loop on reporting across the supply chain: Creating the Golden Thread that funders need, from building safety to ESG
Speakers and panellists will include key voices from the BTR sector, including: Simon Scott, Lead Director – Living Capital Markets at JLL; Lesley Roberts, Chair of ARL and Director of BTR at Godwin Developments and Monogram Living; Michael Keaveney, Director of Land & Development at Grainger; and Sowgol Zarinchang, Managing Director of Way of Life.
The ARL Annual Build to Rent Conference will run from 10:00-18:00 on 7th November, including the hosting of the ARL People Awards 2024, which each year celebrate the outstanding contributions of individuals in the BTR sector. A drinks reception will follow the conference and awards, running until 20:00.
“The ARL conference is the leading annual event for the Build to Rent sector, bringing together expert, insights and knowledge from across the UK and beyond. We are delighted to be presenting such an important range of topics for discussion this year, as well as providing a platform for all those in the sector to connect and network.” Brendan Geraghty, CEO, ARL
