Post Boxes UK, supplier of letterbox and mailbox systems for apartments, has successfully introduced a range of secure, anti theft mailboxes within the last 18 months to the UK market.
In response to growing demand from residents associations and managing agents, the company has expanded its range of horizontal and vertical letterboxes to include more robust and heavy duty units aimed at preventing mail theft and identity theft.
Charles Riley, Post Boxes UK's MD comments, "Over the last few years, we have seen unprecedented levels of ID theft, commonly as a result of criminals gaining access to individuals confidential mail. In part unauthorised access to less than secure mailboxes in internal apartment lobby areas has fuelled this rise in crime, usually by opportunist thieves."
The most common methods of gaining unauthorised access to a resident postbox are "fishing" (putting ones hand through the flap and taking mail from the box) and lock manipulation (lock picking). Whilst residents can protect themselves by emptying their post boxes frequently, this isn't always possible.
Dealing with managing agents and residents association direct, Post Boxes UK offers anti theft mailbox solutions tailored to the needs of any apartment block. Charles Riley adds "No two enquiries are the same. One might have external units which are being jemmied open by screwdriver, whereas another could be internal boxes which are being broken into without any signs of force. Whatever the situation, our primary aim is to establish exactly how existing units are being compromised, and to put a stop to it".
The company's range of "RH" and "RV" (Robust horizontal and Robust vertical) anti theft letterboxes are manufactured from a minimum of 2mm galvanised or stainless steel, with design features which prevent doors from being forced open by screwdriver, hands from fishing mail via the aperture, and lock picking. The range also boasts an executive key registration system to prevent unauthorised members of public from purchasing duplicate keys.
