Leading property management company Rendall & Rittner has been appointed to manage The Dower House, a Grade II listed property containing 14 apartments that represents a major historic landmark in Bristol.
The Dower House in Stoke Park has a fascinating history, originally built in 1553 by Sir Richard Berkeley and later rebuilt in the 18th century by Norborne Berkeley, 4th Baron Botetourt. The property’s name is taken from its use as a dower house for the dukes of Beaufort at nearby Badminton House. In more recent years it has served as hospital and as a temporary campus for University of the West of England (UWE). The main house was converted into apartments in 2004 and is highly coveted residential property for its notable architecture and striking location at Purdown hill, overlooking the M32 on the approach into Bristol.

Rendall & Rittner has been appointed by Dower House (Stoke Park) Management Company Ltd to oversee the management of the illustrious property, and will assume responsibilities on November 1st 2023, following a three-month notice period from the previous management team.
As part of taking on the property, Rendall & Rittner will be seeking opportunities to improve The Dower House’s sustainability through measures such as energy efficient materials and insulation improvements. This is in-line with Rendall & Rittner’s commitment to sustainability within its management duties, for which the company was recognised through winning the inaugural ARMA Environmental and Sustainability Impact Award.
Adding The Dower House to its portfolio of managed properties represents a further expansion for Rendall & Rittner’s South West division, which has recently been extending its influence to cover Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, and Bristol.
