Earl Kendrick strengthens surveying offering with new rope access company

Earl Kendrick has announced the launch of a new surveying and safety service, EK Rope Access Surveys.

This is the latest innovative addition to the EK Building Surveying Group, offering a complete building surveying service to residential and commercial property owners and managers.

EK Group MD Julian Davies explains: “We are always looking at ways to develop our surveying offering, because we know that by giving our clients more solutions, we will drive our business forward; this new service is an excellent example. Rope access (abseil) is an efficient and economical way to get ‘hands on’ access to roofs, exteriors and other hard-to-reach parts of our clients’ buildings. This latest edition to the Group reinforces our position as innovative building surveyors.”

...

Budgets are getting tighter, meaning property owners and managers are often faced with a dilemma: assemble expensive scaffold to reach the area of the problem, or simply ignore the problem until funds are in. Rope access allows surveyors to inspect buildings at close quarters not only to come to a full understanding of their condition, but often to effect the necessary repairs from the ropes at low cost in comparison to scaffolding. In times of strong winds such as those experienced over the last week, mobilising rope access technicians to assess damage and organise repairs is faster and more cost-effective than any rival methodology.

EK Rope Access Surveys arrives 18 months after the creation of EK Digital, which uses aerial drones to take video of entire buildings from the air and stills of problems areas. Being able to provide both drone surveys and rope access surveys, combined with our traditional surveying techniques, enables us to provide a truly comprehensive survey solution.

Having worked with leading rope access specialist Jason Clohessy for many years, Julian Davies says: “We are delighted to welcome Jason to the EK Group. His extensive rope access experience provides a valuable addition to the surveying services our clients need and perfectly complement aerial drone surveys and more traditional techniques. Jason is an expert in this field where safety is of paramount importance.”

Jason Clohessy explains: “It has always been a pleasure dealing with EK and I am very pleased to be part of the team. My 20 years’ experience in inspections - and repairs – from ropes and mansafes has meant being up close to windows, masonry, gutters and all types of roofs in some of the hardest to access areas. And with our surveyors’ expertise, issues can be diagnosed fast and the appropriate repairs recommended and expedited.”

EK Rope Access Surveys goes further than inspections and repairs; the company provides safety testing of mansafe and fall arrest systems, including eyebolts, guardrails, flat roof safety lines and ladders, adhering to the latest British Standards.
