SDL Property Partners puts training first

Sam Massey, Franchise launch manager

Following recent news of upcoming regulations on managing agents, the industry’s first property management franchise scheme, SDL Property Partners is putting training first for its franchisees.

As standard, franchisees already receive an initial training day prior to officially signing up as a Property Partner, and a six-day training course to get them up and running once they have joined. The course covers all aspects of property management and running their business. Once completed, franchisees can start to pitch for new business and build their portfolio.

In addition to this training, SDL Property Partners will run events and workshops throughout the year for franchisees to network and “top up” their training, with the next franchisee event will be held at the end of April which will focus on GDPR compliance, sales and marketing.

The franchise scheme, which has only been established for six months, has received numerous enquiries from estate and letting agents who are keen to get into property management. Due to legislation becoming more stringent and constantly evolving, they need more support to take the next step.

SDL Property Partners’ first franchisee, Emma Davey, shows just how successful this venture can be when given support and guidance: “In the past six months I have been busy growing my business and I have taken time to plan handovers with SDL, where they offer training and support to help win new business. This support has enabled me to ensure my clients receive the personal attention promised and this is working well.

“I have also been attending networking events with key stakeholders in my area of operation, and this has proved very successful with management instructions signed with immediate handover.”

Sam Massey, franchise launch manager, comments: “The legislation and compliance requirements for property management are extensive and always evolving. Ensuring a building meets health and safety regulations is a property manager’s top priority, but combine this with running a business, it can feel overwhelming. Our franchisees can focus on growing their business knowing that we’re always on hand to interpret and implement legislation.”
