Leading managing agent Rendall & Rittner has promoted Marc Gomes to Senior Operations Manager as its community engagement programme continues to flourish. Marc has been instrumental in establishing the company’s community engagement plan, which is a cornerstone of its commitment to creating vibrant, connected residential communities.
Marc joined Rendall & Rittner ten years ago, but since taking up the dedicated role of Community Engagement Manager in 2018, he has championed initiatives that have transformed residential schemes across London into thriving hubs of activity and connection. He drew on his early success as Estate Manager at Stanmore Place where he established a pioneering calendar of community events that has since been rolled out as a blueprint for engagement across more than 50 residential developments.
Today, residents and on-site teams lead many of these events independently, thanks to the sustainable, resident-focused framework Marc introduced. The initiatives have become a key part of community life at many Rendall & Rittner managed schemes, with a calendar of seasonal events including Halloween activities, Recycling Week, bike repair pop-ups and Christmas parties. Supporting charities is a key part of the programme with over £210,000 raised in 2024 for charities including Great Ormond Street Hospital and White Rose via clothing banks.
Marc’s promotion to Senior Operations Manager reflects the self-sustaining success of the community engagement programme. His new role will focus on operational leadership, overseeing on-site teams, training and operational procedures to support the company’s ongoing growth.
Marc comments: “Managed developments are much more community-focused than they were five years ago, and community engagement has become an integral and embedded part of what we offer as a managing agent, which in turn means residents are more satisfied. Our schemes have evolved into truly connected communities where residents are not just participating but taking ownership of events themselves. This has created a sense of belonging and improved communication between residents and our teams. It’s rewarding to see the blueprint we established become a self-perpetuating success and as a result in my new role, I can be more strategic.”
Residents are now motivated to run their own activities, which include gardening clubs, family meet-ups and cinema nights, all of which contribute to a stronger sense of community. The benefits of these initiatives are far-reaching and include enhancing security, reducing crime, adding social value and promoting environmental stewardship.
Some of the largest developments that Rendall & Rittner manages include prestigious developments like Royal Arsenal Riverside and Kidbrooke Village, which host events that attract hundreds of attendees. Community initiatives also strengthen local economies through partnerships with nearby businesses and venues, such as Battersea Park and Battersea Power Station and neighbouring Riverlight, together with developments in the wider Nine Elms area.
Marc comments: “We’re not just managing bricks and mortar; we are setting up communities to thrive and people to live better. We believe that our commitment to helping create engaged communities not only adds value for the residents, but also the leaseholders, landlords, developers and wider communities.”
