Property management experts have a vital role to play in Gordon Brown’s plans to build three million new homes by 2020. Industry experts say optimum design and management of communal areas will be critical in ensuring best value in the £8 billion housing investment. Property management firm Peverel OM welcomes the government’s announcement on housing investment and is urging Whitehall to work with the industry to ensure maximum benefit for residents, developers and taxpayers.
Lee Middleburgh, Peverel OM’s managing director, highlighted how quality of life could be enhanced and money saved by the public and private sectors working together on each project at the earliest possible opportunity.
Communal facilities and services – such as security, lifts, storage, refuse and waste management and environmental management – could all be improved and made more cost-effective if government and developers were to liaise more closely with property management professionals from day one.
Environmental issues are equally important to Peverel OM and they are keen to work with developers to help meet and understand environmental targets set down by the UK Green Building Council.
