PAC’s report published on 21 March 2025 highlights the “appalling” impact of the cladding crisis as Government remediation plans “fail”.

Eight years on from Grenfell, PAC is urging Government to put residents at the heart of remediation efforts, with thousands of unsafe buildings still yet to be identified.

The Property Institute (TPI) gave evidence to the PAC inquiry, with comments on the report as follows:

Jaclyn Mangaroo, Chief Communications Officer of TPI, commenting on the Public Account Committee’s final report on the remediation of dangerous cladding, said:

“The Public Accounts Committee report confirms what residents have known for too long - cladding remediation is moving far too slowly, leaving thousands still living in unsafe buildings.

“While some progress has been made, the pace remains unacceptable. Many residents in tall buildings continue to face financial uncertainty, rising insurance costs, and the emotional toll of living in limbo. This report rightly highlights the cladding crisis, but building safety is about more than just cladding - wider fire safety defects must also be tackled with urgency.

“The Government must act quickly to accelerate remediation, ensure funding reaches those in need, and remove barriers that continue to delay progress.”
