The Young Group, who has recently acquired an £11 million development contract in Earlsfield, highlighted the area as one with significant potential for growth, as the buy-to-let industry looks to rebuild confidence after four interest rate hikes in under a year have caused some to predict the bubble is about to burst.

Mr Young also pointed out that neighbouring areas such as Wandsworth, Clapham and Putney, which have been popular among young professionals in the past, are fast becoming unaffordable and that prices in Earlsfield still represent “significant value”.
The rental market in Earlsfield is currently prosperous, with one bedroom flats typically commanding more than £250 per week, while two and three bedroom properties are currently going for more than £450 and £500 respectively per week.
The Young Group’s new development is called The Retreat and will comprise of 26 flats made up of one, two and three bedroom units with prices starting from £260,000.
The Retreat is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2008.
