I am sure that when I was growing up and going through my formative years we were taught to take responsibility for ourselves and be responsible for our own actions.
A summary of the facts are as follows: her 24th birthday party, she had drunk large amounts of something or other, the garage was nothing to do with her flat, she and her friends climbed out of a window in her flat onto the garage roof, they danced, she stepped back and fell through a roof light. Now thank goodness the accident wasn’t fatal and she is alright however, how on earth can it be the landlord’s fault?
