Barratt London celebrates Topping Out ceremony at Bermondsey Heights

Recently the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Southwark and councillors from the Old Kent Road ward joined Barratt London to celebrate the Topping Out ceremony of the developer’s site, Bermondsey Heights.  To complete the ceremony and to celebrate the significant milestone, those that attended enjoyed 360-degree views across London and a speech from Managing Director, Stephen Thompson and Project Director, John O’Rawe as well as refreshments to finish off the event.     The main tower at Bermondsey Heights, comprising 26 storeys of high-quality residential accommodation with commercial units beneath, will house 195 one, two and three-bedroom homes, with a mix of private and affordable, as well as 20 wheelchair adaptable homes. The development will feature landscaped courtyard gardens, a roof terrace and children’s play area. Boasting panoramic views over the London cityscape, the apartments are expected to be completed in summer 2025 and are available off-plan, with a newly launched show home now ready to view.    The Mayor of Southwark, Michael Situ, commented: “Visiting Bermondsey Heights and being involved in the Topping Out ceremony has been a pleasure. The weather was on our side, allowing us to take in the views of Bermondsey and surrounding area – providing us with a real perspective of the bustling community here in Southwark.”    Beyond just homes, the wider regeneration project in the area has proposals to reinvigorate new beginnings to the local area of South Bermondsey with the introduction of 13 new public spaces, including multiple levels of greenery, a new Overground station, new routes giving easy and direct access to South Bermondsey station, alongside a large retail square and hub for local businesses to thrive.     Stephen Thompson, Managing Director for Barratt East London, said: “It has been a pleasure to welcome the Mayor, Councillor Michael Situ and all of our stakeholders to Bermondsey Heights to mark its topping out. We are incredibly proud of this project, and it was a delight to mark this moment and herald in exciting beginnings for the local community and future residents.”    “Being right in the heart of the capital, this development will bring a wealth of much-needed, high-quality, private, and affordable housing to the Borough of Southwark and the wider capital.”    Homes in Bermondsey Heights currently start from £449,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, with two and three-bedroom homes also available.
